A first-aid fire hose reel is a permanently connected firefighting device designed to provide a continuous and controlled water supply for controlling Class A fires involving wood, paper, cloth, cardboard and other ordinary combustible materials. It enables building occupants or trained personnel to respond quickly during the initial stage of a fire. The wall-mounted hose reel consists of a rotating red drum, semi-rigid thermoplastic fire hose, water-control valve, hose guide, mounting bracket and shut-off nozzle. Its revolving drum allows the hose to be pulled out smoothly and directed towards the affected area. The nozzle provides controlled water discharge for safe and effective firefighting. The hose reel is generally available with a 20 mm or 25 mm internal-diameter hose in lengths of up to 30 metres. It is connected to the building’s pressurised fire-hydrant riser through an isolation valve and suitable MS pipe connection. The equipment is commonly installed inside fire-hose cabinets, corridors, staircases, lift lobbies and other easily accessible locations.
